Buried deep in snow, the maple trees at Jenne Farm await spring and the sugaring season. Sugaring is a process by which tree sap is collected and converted into syrup. The average maple tree can produce 10-14 gallons of sap per season and when cared for properly, can be tapped for decades without harming the tree. It takes around 40 gallons of sap to produce 1 gallon of syrup. This image was made using intentional camera movement. Intentional camera movement is a technique by which a photographer moves the camera while a photo is being made. It creates abstract images focused on light and color. This is the winter image of a four part series cataloging the four seasons in North America.
I'm a photographer living in New England, one of the most diverse landscapes in America. I'm equally fascinated by the seascapes, cityscapes, and landscapes that New England provides but I do occasionally get the urge to travel and visit other areas of the country. I focus on strong colors and shapes in my work and try to capture the sensations a location has to offer.
