A fiery autumn sunset provides a stunning backdrop for Daniel Chester French's Minute Man statue located in Concord, Massachusetts at the site of the Battle of Concord. Depicting a farmer laying down his plow and taking up arms, the statue was unveiled at the centennial celebration of the battle and was cast in bronze from a melted down Civil War cannon. French was only 21 at the time he sculpted this and produced a statue that even impressed himself, recalling later in life that the statue "was better than the citizens had a right to expect."
